Order, 2020.

Plaster

H. 30 × W. 25 × D. 20 cm

Order alludes to the Scripture of the Ten Kings and the belief in hell in Chinese and Japanese Buddhism. The ten sets of hands represent the ten kings according to their distinct characteristics, of which one must encounter orderly in the afterlife. Despite the wretched and perhaps horrifying undertone, Order directs the attention towards the top, the praying hands gesture of the tenth king of the purgatory, Wudao Zhuanlun Wang, signifying the acknowledgment of a determined fate.
